Northern Zone of Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Trainees Association holds 30TH Delegates’ Congress in Tamale

The 30^th Delegates Congress of the Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Trainees Association (GNMTA), Northern Zone, has been held in Tamale, the capital city of the Northern Region, from the 7th to 11th of June, 2023.

The 2023 Congress, which was with the theme “Maintaining the standard of the Noble profession, The role of the trainees Nurses and Midwife”, was held at the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) Guest House, Tamale.

Awards was presented to some particular individuals and students for their outstanding roles in enhancing the ideas of the association. Some of the awards were under the categories of ‘Best SRC President of the year’, ‘Best SRC Secretary of the year’, ‘Best PRO of the year’, and ‘Miss GNMTA’ , among others.

This year’s event was attended by the National leadership of the GNMTA including Adumbisa Pascal (National GNMTA president), Shadrach Adu Gyamfi (Vice Secretary), and Yakubu Mohammed Nirudeen (Secretary for education and registration).

The Delegates Congress, which is an annual event where new leadership of Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Trainees Association are elected to steer the affairs of the trainee nurses and midwives, is the most important event on the calendar of the trainees’ association.

The Congress is characterized by events such as fora, group sessions, beauty pageants, debates and quizzes. It is also one of the platforms for trainees to socialize among themselves.

Again, the occasion creates the opportunity for well-established members of the society to impart life experiences, knowledge and skills to the students.

Finally, it is at the Congress that decisions relating to the success of the association and nursing and midwifery students in general are made and deserving members awarded.
