2023 Central Regional Super-Zonal Athletics Competition in Pictures

The 31st Edition of the Central Regional Senior High Schools and Colleges Zuper-Zonal athletics competition has been held between the 7th and 8th of July, 2023 at the Cape Coast stadium, the Capital of the Central Region.

75 Senior High and Technical Schools participated in the Festival.

Top performing schools from 6 different zones in the interco the previous weeks were selected to compete in the Super-Zonals. 

Athletes that placed 1st to 4th in their zone and schools that placed 1st to 3rd in the relays qualified.

Athletes competed in field events such as High, Long and Tripple Jumps, Shot Put, and Javelin; and track events including 100m, 200m, 4x100m, 4x400m, hurdles, 5000m, 800m. 

Present were heads of the various competing Senior High Schools and other staff members, personnel from the various District, Municipal, Metropolitan, and the Regional Directorates of Education.

Also present at the stadium were media personnel, sports scouts and coaches, as well as the general public.

New Records

1. Joseph Andoh of Mfantsipim School breaking 30-year record in the 100m in his heat and also the 200m record.

2. David Nkousi of Adisadel College broke Aziz Mohammed's record in the 5000m.

3. Naseera Efua Quansah broke Gifty Oku's 100m and 200m records.

4. Esther Obenewaa of Mfantsiman Girls also broke the 27-year old record in the high jump of 1.61m to 1.66m.

5. Mfantsiman Girls broke the 4x100m record and 4x200m record.

It is at the Super-Zonals competition that best performing athletes are selected to represent the region at the Senior High Schools Inter-Regional competition which comprises of all regions.
