The Vice-Chancellor for the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Nigeria, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, has commissioned the JOSEPH & ENESI OYEYANI MAKOJU Memorial Lecture Theatre.
The modest 256 capacity lecture theatre was donated by the family to Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in honour of Engr. Joseph Oyeyani Makoju (July 13, 1948 - April 11, 2022) and his son Mr. Enesi Oyeyani Makoju (March 30, 1974 - February 25, 2025). The foundation of the structure was laid on July 13, 2024 by the son of the late patriarch, Mr. Enesi Oyeyani Makoju and completed within eight (8) months.
The event was graced by eminent personalities, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, ably represented by the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd.); the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and former Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Emeritus Professor Olugbemiro Jegede; Dr. Innocent Ozoemena Ezuma, the Lord Mayor of the Ancient Kingdom of Arondiziogu; and the representative of Barr. Ogwu James Onoja, Esq, SAN; among others.
During the epoch-making event, Dr. Innocent Ezuma, the Executive Chairman, ETA-Zuma Mining and Industries Limited — a recipient of the University's honorary doctorate award (honoris causa) who earlier donated two (2) 18-seater buses to the FUL in February 2022 — donated the sum of ten million Naira for the maintenance of the new building, while a friend of late Enesi Makoju also pledged the sum of one million Naira to support the project.
