Becoming the first ever female SRC President did not come easily. Miss Yvonne Osei Adobea contested for the same position the previous year when she was in level 200 but lost.
After winning the presidency, Miss Adobea took to her Facebook page and wrote a heart-felt, action-poised message that shows how ready she is for the task ahead.
"This victory is not just mine; it's a triumph for all students, particularly women who have long dreamed of breaking through glass ceilings and making their voices heard. Together, we have shattered stereotypes and proven that women are strong, capable, and ready to lead.

We must continue to unpack and unlearn all the prejudiced indoctrination no matter how challenging . It took us an agonising sixty-two years for KNUST to elect a female SRC president, but alas gradual systemic change, is change that overhauls and resets foundations. And I cannot be more proud of this KNUST generation, especially the Boys and the Men who have partnered us to write this beautiful story.
To all the young girls, young women, and minorities out there, remember this: you are powerful beyond measure. Believe in yourself, pursue your dreams relentlessly, and never let anyone tell you that you can't. Embrace your uniqueness and let your voice soar.
This victory is not the end; it's the beginning of a new chapter.
Together, let's create a university society where gender is no barrier to success and where equal opportunities thrive. There should be many more female SRC presidents after me.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
