Former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, and his grand-nephew, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo (Minister for Energy), have been honoured by their former school, Prempeh College.

President Kufuor was honoured with an auditorium (J.A. Kufuor Auditorium) named after him while Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh was honoured by naming a House (Hall) of residence after him (Matthew Opoku Prempeh House).

The gesture was done them for the good works they have done for the school, and for their personal successes in the world of work. Both former President Kufuor and Hon. Dr. Opoku Prempeh were present at the school for the inauguration.

Speaking on the honour done him, Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated:
“For me, everything I have done and continue to do for Prempeh College is also in honour of my grandfather, Otumfuo Nana Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II whose true intention for establishing the college was to promote education not only in the Asante Kingdom but the entire country. I cannot depart from this sacred duty.”
He also expressed that:
“I am eternally grateful to Prempeh college for this honour done me, accentuating the true meaning of the words of the hymnist in Methodist Hymn Book (MHB) number 896 “Now Praise We Great and Famous Men”.
Present at the ceremony was Mr. Arthur Clarke, a former headmaster of the school, who was also honoured. The staff of the school, and some present and past students were also at the ceremony.
