A lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Ghana, who is also a PhD candidate at the University of Montpellier in France, Mr. Anthony Baidoo, has brokered a partnership agreement with the University of Lausanne and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Switzerland.
Mr. Baidoo’s trip to Switzerland involved several activities including delivering a public lecture at University of Lausanne, of which people joined both on-site and online; delivering a presentation at IUCN on the theme “The Politics of Rosewood Trade in Ghana and its Implication for the Conservation of the Species”; and an engagement with experts at IUCN on policy directions and grant opportunities.

The UENR Lecturer took the opportunity to make an appreciation presentation to a Swiss-based American Professor, Gretchen Walters who has been very instrumental in his International academic engagements and the second author of a latest academic publication in World Development Sustainability of which Mr. Baidoo is one of the writers.
Mr. Baidoo also finalised a decision to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Lausanne and the University of Energy and Natural Resources.

The MoU, among other things, will ensure staff exchanges between the two institutions in promoting teaching and research and also provide the basis for accessing critical financial resources which can help beef up academic infrastructural development in UENR.
