University of Energy and Natural Resources Team Visit Czech Republic

A team from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) have visited the Czech Republic on an official educational programme. The visit, which officially started on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023, and led by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, was to create opportunities for the leadership of UENR to discuss issues of possible partnership with some institutions in the Czech Republic.

They met the CzechGlobe team, led by the Director, Prof. Michal V. Marek, where they discussed several topics of interest. They also visited CzechGlobe strategic infrastructure/installation on Thursday, 31st August, 2023 at Brno. These included Phytotrons, Isotope Laboratories, Metabolomics Laboratory and Remote Sensing Laboratory. On the same day, the UENR team also visited the Department of Adaptive Biotechnologies and Department Smart Biotechnologies.

They also paid a courtesy call on the Embassy of Ghana in Prague, Czech Republic on Friday September 1st, 2023.

At the Mendel University in Brno on Friday 8th September, 2023, they discussed more on cooperation between the two universities. The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of UENR, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CzechGlobe which is aimed at deepening the relationship between the two institutions, following the establishment of the Eddy Covariance Carbon Flux Tower.

Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Nyantakyi, Senior Lecturer and Director for Earth Observation, Research and Innovation Centre (EORIC) and Dr. Thomas Agyei, proud Alumni of Mendel University and Lecturer with the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Sciences were part of the delegation to the Czech Republic.
